For thousands of years, dogs have stood by our side, earning their reputation as man's best friend. Throughout history, they have taken on many roles, including saving human lives. Among these canine heroes, St. Bernards hold a special place, particularly thanks to the remarkable achievements of the legendary Barry.
This thoroughly researched book pays tribute to more than 60 extraordinary dogs whose courage and devotion have left their mark on history. From Bamse, the Norwegian military dog, to Frida, the famous Mexican rescue dog, and Endal, a devoted Labrador assistance dog, discover stories that are as fascinating as they are moving.
Passionate about dogs and their life stories, Alexis Cassel spent five years researching the facts behind the myths. In this first volume, dedicated to rescue and assistance dogs, he reveals true acts of heroism that are every bit as remarkable as the legends.
